
About Dr. Dang Nguyen
Dr. Dang Nguyen is an Australian trained psychiatrist and achieved her medical degree at the University of NSW.
As she is a Psychiatrist she can diagnose and treat Mood & Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, ADHD/ADD, Schizophrenia, Psychotic disorders, Personality Disorders as well as other mental health disorders.
She can prescribe medications when needed, as well as engage in psychotherapy ‘talking’ treatments. She works in collaboration with other health providers such as General Practitioners (GPs), psychologists and other therapists to help improve the mental health of her patients.
She treats adults as well as children and adolescents.
Dr. Dang Nguyen’s approach is person focused. You are not an illness or disorder, but someone who is suffering from mental health issues. She works together with you on your journey to recovery, to help you achieve your full potential and a quality of life you desire.
Dr. Dang Nguyen has over 18 years experience in mental health and psychiatry. She works with pregnant women, infants, children, adolescents as well as adults, couples and families.
Her experience is broad from large major cities to rural and remote areas of Australia, including remote and rural aboriginal communities. She caters for people from diverse cultural backgrounds and can conduct assessments and consultations in Vietnamese if required.
She also has worked overseas with such organisations as Mental Health Vietnam and Blue Dragon Children Foundation, a charity that helps street kids and rescues victims from slavery and human trafficking in Vietnam.
Dr. Dang Nguyen has ventured into both private and public psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, private practice as well as specialised units for children and adolescents where there is a multidisciplinary team approach of integration of both education and mental health services.
She believes that medications can help but it is also important to address selfcare, interpersonal and social issues - a holistic approach. As a result, Dr. Dang Nguyen can also do couples therapy, family therapy, play therapy with children and individual psychotherapy, an encourages other evidence based alternative approaches.
